Geeklife: A New Generation is Upon us With Dr. Gamer – Nintendo –

Time is upon us and so is games so instead of making the third article alone, I decided to bring back a little friend from the popular Nintendo News Website… NintyChronicle! This article will also be posted there (In another form of course) and we will discuss what we’ve been waiting for about the whole year!

We won’t be having a full round up because you can check NintyChronicle’s one over —>HERE<— Instead we will sit here and discuss absolutely everything! From Pokémon to Pikmin. Make sure you read the Microsoft @e3 article, and the Sony @e3 one too!

Let us start from the beginning, the direct was about 40 minutes of pure awesome! A game here, then a game there… Wait a challenger approaches! (You’ll understand that when you watch the Direct). I just didn’t see all this coming, but boy it did!

Okay so the Pokémon company showed us a trailer for Pokémon X & Pokémon Y which introduced two new things, fairy type of Pokémon and something we call Pokémon – Aime.

We say: The fairy type is super effective against the dragon, guess I’m not throwing my Dragonite in there anymore (Not that we could do it against Ice type). Now we have 18 different types which really adds up the strategic thoughts, odds are… We’re smoked online either way.

Pokémon – Aime is something we’re excited for because we won’t be trading our starters anymore if we can be so close to them, not to mention that Mr. Junichi Masuda said that being nice to your Pokémon adds up to you, not sure how yet but it should be good to see.

Super Mario 3D World

Yes! This is what we’ve been waiting for! A new completely 3D Mario game, Super Mario 3D Land was awesome, and no I am not saying that it was bad, just that it isn’t completely 3D which is a good thing… Okay sum it up, we wanted to see a 3D Mario game after the 2D one because I want to.

We say: Awesome! Awesome! Awesome! Our favorite moment was seeing the cate power-up which allows the player to climb on walls. And for the first time ever, a completely 3D Mario game has multiplayer where each characters has his own trait. The only downside I really see is the name which as you see has the term “3D” in it. I’m guessing the wanted to confuse consumers because anyone who sees the name will think of it’s being a 3DS title.

Others To Mention

Mario Kart 8 – Wii Party U – Wii Fit U – Art Academy for Wii U – The Legend of Zelda WindWaker HD

We say: Two of these we really care, and two we don’t give a sh**. Sorry for those who wanted to hear more about them, we WILL talk about them later.

3rd Party

Nintendo showed us some 3rd party games coming to the 3DS and Wii U in one big trailer. Titles include:

  • Assassins Creed IV: Black Flag
  • Batman Arkham Origins
  • Batman Arkham Origins Blackgate
  • Deus ex: Human Revolution – Director’s Cut
  • Disney Infinity
  • Rayman Legends
  • Shin Megami Tensei IV
  • Sonic: Lost World
  • Skylanders: SWAP Force

We say: Wohoo! Hell yeah! Lots and lots of 3rd party means lots and lots added games to the library so FTW! Do you see the list above? There are lots more we decided to not add, take that haters.

Indie Games

We didn’t really expect any talk about this, but it happened! Nintendo’s Satoru Iwata actually decided to talk about the indie games coming soon to the growing Wii U eshop:

  • BallPoint Universe
  • CloudBerry Kingdom
  • Coaster Crazy Deluxe
  • Ducktales: Remastered
  • Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara
  • Mutant Mudds Deluxe
  • Oddworld: New ‘N’ Tasty
  • Scram Kitty & His Buddy on Rails
  • Shovel Knight
  • Spin the Bottle: Bumpie’s Party
  • A World of Keflings

We say: I prefer these games over those of 3rd party, and Nintendo can tap themselves on the back for doing it as there are only 3 titles we know of above, and we have 8 other titles too! Indie devs are proving to be better than 3rd parties that are -almost- all shooters. PC used to take all of these guys, but thanks god now we have them on the Wii U, and the 3DS from time to time.

D.K Country Tropical Freeze

And so it is here, the title Rare has been working on for the past 2 years is now revealed, and IT IS AWESOME! Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze is the newest installment in the  Donkey Kong Country series launching this November!

We say: We’re kind of happy and kind of sad, happy because we know the game will be awesome, not to mention the series having a return for Dixie Kong, however we expected something else, we already have Donkey Kong Returns remake on the 3DS, why not revive something older? StarFox wasn’t an option I guess, but what about Metroid? Why not a new IP, heck this game has been in the works for 2 years, actually with all the side work they do like some Mario Kart tracks… It’s not so surprising, but I expected something else, not that this isn’t awesome!

The Wonderful 101 & Bayonetta 2

Two games coming from the same 3rd party developer, one resembles a Pikmin-like game (The Wonderful 101), and the other is one we’re used to have in places like the Nintendo HQ, but it’s good to have it here.

We say: Another 3rd party? Well both games were revealed before so we knew it, but this time we have MORE GAMEPLAY, and quite frankly we have to say this, the graphical looks and the the camera style is almost the same, but all in all they’re a joy to play, not to mention both being exclusive, and The Wonderful 101 having multiplayer!

A title that many believe is another installment to the Xenoblade (Same Developers, same first letter… Do the math), an Open World RPG? I almost cried out of joy (Didn’t cry until something else was shown).

We say: Bring it on gamers! Such games take hundreds of hours and we just can’t wait for it, the smartest thing to add was having mechs in there too to have newcomers attracted to it, we’re pretty sure everyone loves mechs, no?

Super  Smash Bros. 4

Not titled yet, the newest installment in the series is the 4th, and it’s coming for bothe the 3DS and the Wii U, making it the first time it’s released on a handheld. People thought it will only be screenshots, but we got something called FOOTAGE! So…

Hell yeah! Hell yeah! Hell yeah! People you need to know something, if there is one game people can’t and don’t complain on Nintendo for is none other than the series we know as Super Smash Bros, remember staying up all night playing the game, round after round, tournament after tournament, 5 minutes later and we see the sun rising… I (nGamerGuy) played this game more than Mario Kart DS with my cousin, and we played Mario Kart for about 48 hours straight with nothing but food and a toilet.

We say: Iwata almost gave us a heart attack, we where waiting for the next Smash Bros game, its logo appeared, but wait! What is that? Animal Crossing? We love the series but is this really the game you’re showing us at the end? We were sad & mad until the villager opened the letter… OMG!!! The letter is stamped with the Smash Brothers Logo, oh boy!

Now is the start, showing us some characters and a gameplay for both the 3DS & the Wii U made me cry (Yes it did), and knowing it will have online (of course it will) made my dreams come true *Sniff*

And so the Direct ended, joy just started and yet more of it to come, all we have to say here is… Good Job Nintendo, you make it worth being your fan!

Okay fellow geeks, who of the big three won the event? Keep in mind you can read about Microsoft @e3 by pressing the word, and also Sony @e3 by doing the same thing (I know that sounded stooped :P) Keep in mind that the Nintendo article is the longest due to talking in details with Dr.Gamer so don’t forget to follow him @DrGamerN on twitter.

Make sure to tell me in the comments below! GAME ON!
