OMG! Did you see what I saw? Well actually I couldn’t stay up late because it was after Midnight at my place but woke up to have my laptop be the first thing in the palm of my hands, well actually it was on my lap and thanks god they Laptop was not broken after the fall.
Sony finally revealed the Playstation 4 to the people, actually they went Nintendo with this one by just showing the controller and not mentioning anything about the box, it doesn’t really matter, we all know its a new console anyway hence the number. The conference actually revealed so many important stuff, games, specs, release date and more! But what really got me is the controller, the newly named DualShock 4 is brilliant.
This is one sexy little controller you know, and it’s console is even better, but lets keep it controller now. A Touchpad for in-game use sounds a little Wii U-ish, then again the Gamepad is touch screen. We also have more angular D-pad and really better grips, the also changed the analog sticks kind of to make it better for a thumb of young gamers.
You can also see the L2/R2 are now more like the Xbox ones, not too much but really more comfortable I guess, even the L1/R1 buttons now look better. You can also see that little light that reminds us of the PS Move controller, well its kinda in it now.
We also have two new buttons, Share & Options, you’ll see what they do later in the article.
Above you have the new PSN Profile which now shows you what you’re friend is playing, actually they show him playing like yes actual gameplay. You’ll see his trophies and his gaming level I guess, its actually more of a timeline to post stuff and SHARE them.
Is that Wii U’s U logo!?! Na it must be something else, after all why would Sony do something like that…
It was also announced that the PS4 lets you play games while downloading them, you can try them without buying them (sounds like a demo to me), you can help you’re friend when he is losing in a game somehow, and best of all, you can play you’re PS4 games on the Vita on the go! Another reason to buy the Vita.
Now we move on to PS4 Eye, it has 1280×800 pixel sensor capable of capturing video at 60 frames-per-second and it can also be used to detect players automatically. But Sony, if this little eye is anything like Kinect, I’ll be the first to not buy it, stop copying stuff for you’re consoles, do what you do best, POWER!
Speaking of power, the PS4’s specs were also confirmed. It is powered by a custom 8 core AMD Jaguar x86-64 with integrated graphics APU and “next-generation“ AMD Radeon graphics processor capable of driving 1.84 teraflops. Paired with 8GB of dedicated GDDR5 memory and shipping with Blu-ray drive, built-in 80.211 b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1, also we have HDMI, Analog AV, and optical digital output.
Damn those are PC like powers right? Now we only need one more thing but before I talk about it, we still have the most important part of a console… It’s games.
Their are some games revealed, not a powerful 22 like the Wii U, but really great games like the newly announced Final Fantasy, Watch dogs which has been announced for the Wii U about yesterday I think, Diablo III is coming, KillZone: Shadow Fall, The Witcher 3, Knack, a new medieval RPG game. Though the best to get my attention was Bungie’s x-exclusive game Destiny.
Last but not least… THE PRICE! How much will it cost? With PC like power and graphics how much is it going to cost? It is a great console and I would love to pay for it, but I can’t, we also have the price of the games, if last time was $60… then this time $70? $80? That can’t be good. Anyway the console is set to launch this year in the holidays so we’ll hear more about it real soon.
Its also good to note that lots of stuff are being revealed right now, some are good, but sadly lots are bad.
The PS4 doesn’t block used games, but it won’t let you play you’re retail/download PS3 games so you better keep you’re console if you’re a Sony Retro. They also confirmed the PS Move will be supported somehow but the Dualshock 3 won’t work, I would write the others but well, its not that important to talk about it now.
The best thing Sony did now is that they are leaving the battles between them and Nintendo whereas Microsoft is left back in the shades and its going to be awkward just announcing it like that after both the Wii U and the PS4 take their gloat.
Thanks for reading gamers, until next time…
